Job Description Small general practice law firm seeks a law clerk who will be working in the areas of real estate, wills and estates, and family law. A good understanding of PCLaw is an absolute prerequisite. Experience is an asset. This is intended to be a full time, permanent position. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative when needed, who is particular about detail and an excellent proof reader. Position will provide support on a range of files with a focus on real estate and wills & estates. Responsibilities Managing residential real estate transactions from beginning to end; (including handling freehold, condominium, purchase, sale and mortgage transactions from start to finish, including reporting). Drafting correspondence, requisitions, closing documents, final reports, and other legal documents as needed; Drafting Wills and Powers of Attorney, and preparing applications for Probate; Organizing and maintaining legal files; Meeting and corresponding with clients; Drafting accounts; and Other legal administrative duties as required. Requirements 1+ years of law clerk experience, preference for real estate and wills & estates experience; Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills; Positive, confident attitude with strong focus on client service; Proficiency with PC Law, MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel), and Teraview (experience with DivorceMate an asset); Law Clerk Diploma/Certificate is an asset.
