Project Manager Job Posting Career Opportunity: "Awesome Software-Traffic Controller" THE POSITION SUMMARY: Looking for an awesome software-traffic controller to use their project manager powers for good, not evil. AND JUST FOR YOU… We’ll pay you for 3 weeks and you don’t even have to come here, we call it “vacation” time. FREE PARKING (*Note: free parking is only at our office, not everywhere you go…We’re up to your tricks). You’ll have 133 hours of “free” time per week (35 hour work weeks). THE POSITION: You’re the hub (Centre around which other things rotate) of our custom product development. You are very important and likely have many leather-bound books. Your typical day will consist of: Manage the entire team as a central contact for the project team (internal and client facing) for overall project support, communications, resource planning, and performance tracking with day to day operations for the projects within the company. It sounds impressive. Don’t act like you’re not impressed. The Project Manager is integral through every phase of a project, from kick off to closing. SO, WHAT WILL YOU DO? Starting from project approval, you will manage kick off meetings, client demos, and ad-hoc meetings as required. Communication is key in conveying complex concepts at various levels of the organization. Organize and maintain project resources. Be able to motivate and lead a team of developers. Be able to anticipate and relate to client needs. Responsible for the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of all software development projects ensuring deadlines are met, budgets are adhered to and a high level of quality is maintained. Work with our Project Coordinator to; Direct general administrative duties and document projects and tasks in accordance with client specific needs. Nothing is more exciting than administrative duties! Not even fireworks. Develop and distribute team meeting agendas and schedules, meeting minutes and internal and client status reports to document key project updates. Organize, distribute, track and manage the progress of client support requests received via phone, email, in person, or smoke signals. Prepare, track, and maintain Project Charters, Product Backlogs, Change Requests, and Product Parking lots. Also, you may need to occasionally manage the actual parking lot. Our valet hasn’t showed up for work since he won the lottery. Glen, if you’re reading this, we miss you. Review developer time sheets against scrum planning for performance tracking. Of course, you get to lay down the hammer if performance is slacking. Bringing down the hammer is mandatory. Manage estimates between sales, product owners, and production by tracking priority and validating estimates from development team against product requirements. Assist with the development of project plans, product iterations, work breakdown structures, project schedule and weekly action items. You’re basically the auto-aim of our project team. Prepare and manage project post-mortems. You will be running the show. You will need to prepare project analysis relating to defects density, time accuracy, scope quality, time estimating, and issue identification/prevention. Keep Product Owners in line and ensure requirements are adhered to. You can use any method to keep people in line that you deem necessary. Hugs and candy have proven surprisingly effective. Have in depth knowledge of risk management methodologies and how to mitigate and prevent risks for complex software development projects. Know the studies. 60% of the time, it works every time. QUALIFICATIONS: Must know how to turn on the computer AND the monitor. PMP Certification or working towards certification in project management is preferred. Willingness to travel occasionally. Ever been to Nunavut? Seriously. We aren’t kidding! Post-secondary education in business or software preferred, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience in project administration, ideally in a technical environment. Strong understanding of KPI’s, and how to hold people accountable to them. Strong computer skills, proficiency in using MS Office software and Internet research tools (Excel, Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable speaking in front of clients. Excellent organization, multi-tasking and time management skills required. Must be exceptionally knowledgeable in Simpsons and Anchorman quotes. A strong dislike for the Star Wars prequels. Priority will be given to an applicant that likes and can name at least 3 types of cookies, as well as quote accurately from Anchorman.
