Date : March 29, 2018 Position(s) : Development Officer Grants and Special Projects (Maternity Leave 18 months) Location(s): YMCA -Wortley Village, 165 Elmwood Ave East, London Start Date : ASAP The YMCA of Western Ontario has an immediate vacancy for the above position. This role offers the opportunity to lead and support the YMCA in fund development functions. The position incorporates the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Through the Development/Philanthropy function, this position provides you an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing and full participation of children and families in our community. Our administrative offices are located in the beautifully restored, historic Normal School, in the heart of Wortley Village. Responsibilities: The position works under the direction of the Vice President of Development; in this capacity, the position is primarily involved in fundraising related activities within the YMCA of Western Ontario Association aimed at increasing charitable revenue. Grants and Major Gifts Provide development leadership in Capital Campaign grant and proposal solicitations. Work with YMCA staff to identify key prospects and develop compelling proposals of support for each campaign project. Write inspiring grants and proposals to engage prospective donors. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of reporting requirements to funding organizations/specific donors. Steward existing major gift grant funders and build relationships for ongoing funding. Assist with Annual Staff Campaign and other Annual fundraising initiatives. Support the efforts of Development work with YMCA Branch/Centre stakeholders, donors and volunteers. Assist with special events on an as-needed basis. Actively engage in face to face solicitations where appropriate. Donor Relations and Stewardship Assist with other campaigns as needed. Development & Other Duties Work closely with YMCA leadership and operational areas to understand the primary funding priorities and opportunities and develop a strong case for support. Increase funds for operational areas and projects - annual YMCA Strong Kids, special projects, endowment, capital etc. Post, monitor, and maintain accurate records through Causeview data base and track donor activity. Lead select annual giving campaigns Build grant prospect pool Experience A minimum of 5 years experience in fundraising, solicitation, mid-level and major gifts, grant writing, annual giving, and event coordination. A successful track record closing leadership and/or major gifts through grants or other avenues. Proven track record meeting targets and increasing revenue. Experienced in Microsoft Office applications with solid proficiency in the use of spreadsheets, data base management, and outlook. Experience with Raisers Edge, Causeview or Salesforce system preferred. Skills Excellent relationship building with donors, volunteers, staff, and other key stakeholders. Is a skilled fundraiser who is comfortable asking for donations. Above average verbal and written communication skills - ability to inspire, motivate, and communicate the story. Has a keen attention to detail while still being able to see the larger strategic picture. Is a creative and innovative thinker. Attention to detail and accuracy Knowledge of budget creation for grants; understanding budget/financial reports for use in grants. Personal Characteristics Enjoys building fund development programs and increasing revenue streams through major gift and foundation fundraising efforts. Initiative, flexibility, goal oriented, strong work ethic. Works well in a culture in which individuals are open to helping their colleagues where needed. Works well independently and with a team.
