The London InterCommunity Health Centre is looking for an Outreach Worker to support our clients. This role works as a part of an interdisciplinary team. Our goal is to address the needs of Londoners who experience barriers to accessing care and services and have complex addiction and/or social issues. This role is responsible for engaging clients through street level outreach and in-reach at partnering agencies, as well as educating individuals and communities, primarily through: Prevention and harm reduction education Offering HIV testing: reaching as many people as possible (full training available, no experience required) Supporting client engagement in their Hep C and/or HIV treatment and care plan. We want to hear from you if you : Are committed to harm reduction (i.e. meet people where they are at, absence of judgment) Have working knowledge of addictions and have used harm reduction principles when supporting people Have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills with strong written and oral communication skills Have experience with both individual and systemic advocacy Have crisis intervention/de-escalation skills Demonstrate strong organizational, time management skills with strong computer and data management skills Have knowledge of community resources and London social service agencies Qualifications Direct experience with communities at risk Post-secondary education in social services and/or experience providing education/support/counseling to adults Minimum three (3) years’ experience working within the harm reduction model of service delivery Knowledge about HIV/HCV transmission, social determinants of health related issues Knowledge of different substances and how they may impact on a person’s behavior Valid driver’s license for work-related duties preferred Training and rigorous application of safe sharps handling practices Basic First AID, CPR, Crisis Prevention Intervention and will obtain a Vulnerable Positions Screening (Police Check) This role is of a permanent nature and would require full time hours (37.5 hours/wk).
