About the Position: In your capacity as a Retail Flooring Sales and Design Consultant you will work closely with customers to determine their needs, answer questions about our products and services and recommend the right solutions for their individual or corporate needs. Whether the interaction occurs in our showroom, in the customer’s home or their workplace, the objective is always to provide both design and flooring advice that will make the customer’s buying decision easier.
Experience within the flooring industry is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate to fit our growing team. The ideal candidate must be willing to divide their work time between the showroom, visiting customer’s homes, prospecting for new clients and networking within the community.
What you will be doing:
Responsible for creating positive sales relationships with retail customers, and for developing new sales relationships with home builders, contractors, property development companies, designers etc.
Accountable for all stages of the sales process, from initial contact with the customer to successful installation and completion of project.
Helping customers select a floor and provide accurate information on product features, pricing and after sales-service. Explaining the steps and products needed to complete projects and describing features and benefits of merchandise.
Measuring the project by performing in-home consultations/onsite measurements and providing accurate and clearly detailed quotations to customers.
Ordering products and managing inventory.
Communicate with internal management and external sources; ensure project deadlines are met and installers are prepared.
Handle applicable concerns and resolve them in a timely and effective manner.
Create an overall standardization of procedures encompassing all steps from project start-up to project completion.
Identify specific opportunities and/or challenges, develop strategic steps and implement effective solutions.
Research material requirements (finish goods, trims, accessories and installation methods).
Complete final cost estimates, incorporating all labour, equipment, and material data, pricing documentation, overhead and profit margins.
Provide superior customer service; ensure client satisfaction.
Keeping up-to date on the wide selection of floors we have to offer, the benefits and warranties provided by each, as well as providing the customer decorating and design advice.
Lead the planning and execution of trade shows/event set-up.
Assisting in other divisions of the business as needs and time permit.
Other duties as needed and assigned.
What you will need:
Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices;
Ability to retain and convey product details;
Ability to learn design principles and basics relative to residential interiors, and coordinate colours in accordance with current trends, individual customer needs and budgets;
Interior Design Certificate; construction and home design knowledge is an asset;
Valid driver’s license;
Ability to work showroom hours of Mon-Fri 9:30am – 6:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am – 2:00pm;
Flexible to work occasional weekends;
Knowledge in mathematics, able to take dimensions of areas and accurately determine the square footage and flooring requirements. Ability to perform detailed and accurate material take-offs;
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn our operating system;
Excellent verbal, written and critical listening skills;
Enthusiastic, friendly and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service;
Excellent relationship-building skills and ability to work well with customers, peers and management;
Self-motivated and internally driven to excel in your position and career;
Time management skills for juggling multiple (and sometimes competing) deadlines and deliverables;
Ability to multi-task, while being attentive to customers and remaining flexible to the needs of the business.
What you will get:
Base Salary $50,000 - $60,000

Use of Company vehicle during business hours to attend client consultations
