Downs, Barristers & Solicitors, are seeking a full-time, experienced litigation law clerk to support its growing litigation practice (London office).  We offer the team approach of a small firm but the work experience that any large firm can provide.  If you like the comforts of a small firm, this practice is for you!  The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented, exceptionally organized and is confident working independently but knows how to be a team-player.  
 
The Law Clerk's duties include:
  • correspondence with clients and various third parties
  • scheduling examinations for discovery
  • following up on undertakingsp
  • preparing motion records, affidavit of documents, general court documents, including attending to service and filing
  • preparing pleadings, including attending to service and filing 
  • client and third party communications
  • overall file management and maintenance including maintaining a diligent tickler system
Your skills include:
  • excellent proofreading skills (ability to check typed material for grammatical, typographical, spelling, word usage and format errors)
  • the ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative
  • strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, PC Law
  • working knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure
  • motivated with a positive attitude
