File Clerk - Summer Student

This is an ideal position for students in the field of Library Sciences, Business Administration and Information Services. Student will work directly under the supervision of the Scheduling Supervisor - this will develop organizational, project management, communication skills, computer skills. This is a temporary, 8-week summer student position for 30 hrs/week.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Archive files for people supported; put files for people supported in chronological order while setting up a filing system for future use; discarding irrelevant information
  • Create a library system for all textbooks/resource books - this would include cataloguing all books, setting up a filing system for same and a borrowing/return system for staff to access/borrow/return
  • Work with scheduling supervisor to address efficiencies in software correlating to collective agreement, review schedules for best use of resources

This position is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program and as such must be eligible for this position as per their requirements;

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2 for the duration of the employment; and,
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Job Type: Temporary, 8-Week Summer Contract
Salary: $14.00/hr
