Position: Policy Analyst Status: Permanent, Full Time Application Deadline: June 18, 2019
Working within the London Police Service’s Corporate Services Division, the Policy Analyst will:
Coordinate with subject matter experts across the London Police Service to create, update, and maintain procedures as needed;
Review the London Police Service’s procedure manual to devise enhancements in the structure and layout of the manual over time;
Assist with and conduct research to ensure policy compliance with legislation, Provincial Adequacy Standards, London Police Service Board By-laws and best practices;
Attend meetings with Provincial counter parts and members of the Ministry Of Community Safety & Correctional Services (MCSCS) to prepare the London Police Service for incoming procedural changes;
Monitor case law or other changes in statutory law that may impact London Police Service practices or procedures;
Coordinate and manage the London Police Service Directives System and incorporate relevant orders into procedure;
Provide assistance to the Quality Assurance Specialist as needed when conducting audits;
Provide guidance to Division and Branch Commanders in the revision of policies commensurate with experience;
Prepare a Procedure Review Report for each revised procedure, outlining justification for the changes and referencing legislation, case law and Provincial Adequacy Standards;
Disseminate new and revised policies to the London Police Service;
Liaise with other services across Ontario and Canada on upcoming trends in policing;
Participate on the Procedure Review Committee in the development and updating of procedures for the London Police Service;
Assist in the publication and archiving of activities that involve London Police Service Procedures or Directives; and
Perform other duties as assigned within the core competencies.
Bachelor's degree; courses in risk management an asset;
12-24 months related experience;
Ability to work independently and problem solve with minimal direction.
Salary:$52,710 - $70,872
