The Organization

Museum London is Southwestern Ontario's leading museum for the collection and presentation of visual art and material culture. Through public and educational programming, special events and exhibitions, Museum London strives to promote the knowledge and enjoyment of regional art, culture and history.

The Role

We are looking for a part-time Director of Finance to join our finance team. Responsibilities include:
  • budget development, monitoring and reporting
  • financial forecasting
  • financial controls and management
  • preparation of monthly financial and operational reports
  • preparation of monthly journal entries, including accruals, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
  • oversight of daily accounting functions including bank reconciliations, accounts payable, accounts receivable
  • preparation of annual financial statements
  • preparation of federal and provincial subsidies, grant programs and subsidy claims
  • annual reporting, including the Registered Charity Information Return
Part-Time Hours and Conditions
  • Part-time flexible hours (average of 20 hours per week, depending on time of year)
  • Ability to work from home, or the Museum, or a combination, while abiding by current COVID restrictions
  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance or related discipline
  • Successful completion of CPA designation
  • Five years of progressive accounting and financial management experience, preferably in the public sector
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset
  • Proficiency with MS Office with advanced Excel skills
  • General ledger software experience (Sage 300 preferred)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Public Sector Accounting practices
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, planning skills; excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to coordinate, review and evaluate complex issues and adopt an effective course of action; supervise and motivate staff.
