Job Description

Responsibilities

  • General ledger maintenance including preparation of journal entries, balancing and reconciliation of various accounts and sub-ledgers.
  • Work with the Community Services department in preparation and distribution of invoices and assist in daily financial processes associated with rentals, programs and canteen.
  • Assist with analysis, research, and reporting of finance policies, procedures and best practices.
  • As required, provide front counter coverage including: general information to the public (either by phone or in person) accepting payments and assisting staff.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 1 years’ experience, preferably in a municipal setting
  • Sound working knowledge of general accounting practices, procedures and analysis in a computerized accounting environment.
  • Mathematical aptitude and analytical skills applicable for various financial and accounting functions
  • Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft Office applications with intermediate proficiency in spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently and with members of the public, staff, and committee members.
