Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Health and Safety Manager is responsible for our high level of health and safety standards by maintaining an in-depth knowledge of Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Transportation standards including other all other legislative bodies, in addition to having an in-depth knowledge of Voyago’s Global Policies and Procedures. This role provides direction, support and guidance to all managers, supervisors and employees regarding safety issues or concerns.
Primary Responsibilities
Compliance
Ensures compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Develops and implements policies and processes as a result of changing legislation or identified trends
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to employment law, WSIB, Labour Relations Act, Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code
Reacts to Ministry of Labour field visits, orders, or charges related to Health and Safety and Compliance
Facilitates Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
Assist with the maintenance of training and orientation
Ensures company Contractor compliance
WSIB
Manages claims from start to completion; liaison with WSIB case manager to ensure all paperwork and employee updates are completed and submitted on a timely basis
Analyzes NEER statements and monthly Accident Cost Statements and provide regular feedback to divisional managers
Incident and Collision Analysis and Reporting
Ensures incident/ collision reporting is complete and reported in a timely fashion; establishes appropriate follow-up
Completes monthly Analysis identifying trends in recent incidents and collisions
Works closely with our insurance broker on all claims
Develops and delivers company training programs as a result of needs assessment & sharing best practices within the transportation industry
Participates in auditing of vehicles and drivers
Participates in HR Strategy setting tactical objectives and operational plans
Maintains a solid working knowledge of the Vehicle for Hire industry and remains current on any relevant legislative changes affecting Voyago
Helps increase VTS’s visibility within the community by participating in company sponsored events
Is willing to participate in education upgrading as required
Requirements
Completion of University or College education
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
JHSC Certification
CRSP designation preferred
Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the Transportation industry
Proficient in computer software applications, including Microsoft O365
In-depth knowledge of current legislation relating to Health & Safety
Clean Drivers Abstract
Must be able to upgrade to a commercial drivers licence
Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings & training
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule including travel
