Job Description

The Facility Maintenance Custodian is responsible for ensuring the London Children’s Museum is a clean, comfortable, and safe environment for visitors and staff. Position: Part-time at approximately 10-20 hours per week. Including some evenings, weekends, and weekdays.
Rate: $15/hr
Start Date: ASAP

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the building is kept to a high standard of cleanliness
  • Clean, dust, disinfect, and stock washrooms, common areas, offices, and exhibits
  • Sweep, mop, wash, and vacuum floors
  • Ensure the building is clean, in good order, and ready to open the next day
  • Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies
  • Ensure galleries are kept clean and tidy, including minor laundry duties
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and WHMIS
  • Perform garbage and recycle sorting and disposal
  • Minor landscaping, including raking, weeding, watering, shoveling, and winter duties
  • Prepare and set up rooms for meetings, activities, and events as needed
  • Additional duties as required

Skills & Requirements:
  • Experience in detailed cleaning of a public-use facility including floors and washrooms
  • Able to work evenings and weekends
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Takes initiative and shows personal responsibility and pride in quality work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proven ability to effectively problem-solve, multi-task, and prioritize
  • Ability to handle physical work and lift medium to heavy objects
  • Ability to work in a safe and effective manner
  • Enthusiasm for working in a child-centred environment
  • Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check required
