Greenhouse Team Lead Full-time, Permanent St. Thomas, Ontario (Talbotville rural location)

The Company: Ontario Plants Propagation Limited is looking to grow our Greenhouse team. We are looking for individuals with agricultural experience to help us lead a team of labourers to complete various tasks in a greenhouse environment. If you like working with your hands, setting an example for others, and encouraging others to do their best, this might be the role for you. The primary responsibility of the team lead role is to work side by side with a team of greenhouse labourers to meet production targets and ensure safe work practices.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
Coordinate, assign and supervise a team of Greenhouse laborers to achieve planning rates and quality production goals
Organize workflow based on established company methods and practices, and ensure that team members understand their duties or tasks
Monitor productivity, efficiency, and performance of Greenhouse laborer’s and provide constructive feedback
Monitor and enforce safety, quality control, and bio-security procedures
Make decisions, handle complaints and resolve problems
Coordinate work activities with Supervisors, Team Leads, teams, and departments
Maintain control over documentation related to the task under his/her responsibility (shipping, time trackers, etc.)
Supervise and assist in detecting disease and health problems in plants
Supervise and assist with fertilizing, cultivating, spraying, and irrigating plants
Supervise and assist in setting and monitoring water lines, airflow, temperature, screens, and lighting in facilities
Supervise and assist with maintenance of facilities and farm infrastructure
Supervise and assist with operating and maintaining farm machinery and equipment
Perform other tasks as may be assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
English skills, both written and verbal an asset
Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team setting and maintain endurance over extended periods
Ability to operate various types of equipment;
6 months of working experience leading individuals and/or working in an agricultural setting
Must have reliable transportation
Physical Location/Working Conditions:
Greenhouse environment in a rural area, own transportation required;
Repetitive tasks, a combination of standing, bending, walking, crouching
35 – 55 hours per week, shifts may vary between day and evening
