Job Description

We offer the following two In-School Group Mentoring Programs:

Go Girls! Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds is a program for female identifying youth ages 12-14 that focuses on physical activity, balanced eating and self-esteem. The single, most important goal of the program is to positively shape the lives of young women and girls by helping them build a positive self-image – setting them on a path to reach their full potential in life.

Game On! Eat Smart, Play Smart, Live Smart is a program for male identifying youth ages 12-14 that provides them with information and support to make informed choices about a range of healthy lifestyle practices. Participants engage in non-traditional physical activities (always with a healthy snack), life skills and positive discussions that encourage them to achieve their full potential.

Required Qualifications/Training:

  • General knowledge of physical activity, positive nutrition, positive self-esteem and building relationship skills
  • General knowledge of community resources
  • Willingness to try new things
  • A clear vulnerable sector police check that has been done within the last 6 months

Expectations:

  • Provide an opportunity for girls and boys to participate in fun, interactive activities and discussions once a week for seven weeks
  • Learn the program curriculum and deliver it with confidence
  • Supervise a group of 6-8 teens and respond knowledgably to their needs
  • Report regularly to the staff on the progress of the program
