Cheshire Homes of London is hiring for a Health and Safety Coordinator: 
The Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the support, data control, and organization of safety-related documentation and field activities. The successful individual will play a supporting role in promoting and ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety initiatives. This position will work closely with the HR Director, the Attendant Services Managers, and the Program Managers. 

Title/Status: Permanent full-time

Location:  London ON

Pay Range:  $46,628/year start rate + comprehensive benefit package

Shift:  35 hours/week, Monday-Friday 0830-1630hrs

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage a fiscally responsible Health and Safety program
  • Manage and coordinate work-related claims in accordance with WSIB legislation
  • Support and monitor safe and responsible modified RTW programs through the WSIB
  • Ensure Cheshire operates in compliance with the OH&S Act and establish and uphold legislated policies related to the OH&S Act.
  • Plan, develop and implement safety training and Orientation of new employees and recertification training requirements on safe practices and policies, safe body mechanics, health and safety online training and OHSA legislation
  • Auditing program offices and developing plans to ensure compliance
  • Administration, investigation and resolution of Accident/Incident and Hazard Reports
  • Advocate employee wellness and safety by providing ongoing coordination and partnerships with leadership team

 

Qualities and Qualifications:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or related discipline from a Community College and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Current Health and Safety (CRSP) Designation or working toward designation
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Kinesiology, Human Kinetics or a Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety with equivalent experience considered an asset
  • 3-5 years related industry experience
  • Experience reporting, writing, and completing WSIB claims 
  • Healthcare safety experience an asset
  • Safety Group experience an asset
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety, including legislation and technical standards
  • Technical qualifications conducting audits and assessments
  • Knowledge of Adult learning principles
  • Facilitation/instruction skills in various settings and levels of employees/management
  • Ability to work in a team environment/collaboration
  • Excellent oral and written skills, computer skills
  • Valid Driver's License and business level auto insurance coverage
  • Access to a vehicle that meets minimum MTO safety standards
