Relief Direct Care Worker

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the specific needs of two new males receiving service. This role involves life skills teaching and coaching, supporting with basic care and behaviour management. Successful applicants will have solid knowledge and experience with the specific developmental, physical, and medical challenges of the persons receiving service and the ability to advocate on their behalf. Hours of work and shifts include days, evenings, weekends, overnights, and public holidays, will be based on the needs of the individuals in the program.

 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of related post-secondary education (Social Work, CYW, DSW, SSW) or equivalent Post Secondary education
  • A valid Ontario full G Driver’s License, Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Current Health Assessment, with up-to-date immunizations, Current Standard First Aid and CPR Certificate, and Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate (CPI)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer hardware and software
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries
  • Physical ability to fulfill the demands of the position
  • Demonstrated understanding of support requirements for at-risk youth and vulnerable adults
  • Experience supporting individuals with daily living while pursuing vocational and recreational opportunities
  • Advocate on behalf of individuals to achieve goals
  • Minimum one (1) year related experience
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset

 

Work Location(s):             London, ON

Starting Wage:                    $20.16 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
