Teen Challenge is looking for a Budget Manager to help develop, analyze and oversee our multi-centre budget system. This key role will work alongside our senior management team to help ensure the organization's continued financial growth and success.

Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting or Commerce (or similar education), and will have experience with cash flow budgeting, accounting and management financial reporting.  This person will have a combination of good mathematical skills, strong Excel abilities, and the ability to produce meaningful reports.  Experience in financial reporting for a registered charity is a plus.

Teen Challenge is a rapidly-expanding ministry and a registered charity. In order to be successful in this role, the incumbent should be able to use critical thinking skills to help make and interpret financial projections.   

Ultimately the incumbent of this position should be able to develop and apply financial reporting skill to plan, evaluate, benchmark and report our organization’s financial performance and help manage growth.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Working in collaboration with the CFO and Accounting Manager to monitor budgets, prepare variance analysis, projections and financial reporting for management
  • Assist the CFO in the preparation and maintenance of financial forecasts as well as annual budgets
  • Identify and track revenue and expense trends, and assist with developing departmental budgets
  • Assist with preparation of monthly and quarterly internal monitoring reports, and annual budget presentation materials
  • Develop reports for internal use and review existing reports for improvement opportunities
  • Participation in the preparation and enhancement of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting packages for internal and external purposes
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and ad hoc analysis, to be distributed to senior management for further review
  • Preparation of monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
  • Track and monitor fiscal results and revenue lines
  • B.Com or BBA degree considered an asset or diploma or degree in finance, accounting or business-related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Basic understanding of the function of accounting
  • Excellent command of Excel, including advanced features and functions
  • Strong mathematical skills necessary for tracking and forecasting funds
  • High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning, resourcefulness, flexibility, adaptability, confidentiality and discretion
  • Proven ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues, autonomously and within a team setting
  • Ability to multitask and meet ongoing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly transmit and receive information by email, phone and in-person
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to adapt to within a changing fast paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Productivity Software
Working Conditions
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • The atmosphere may vary from a calm to a fast paced setting depending on daily events
  • Operate office equipment including photocopier, fax machine, scanner, phone and other equipment as necessary
  • Overtime as required
