VISITOR EXPERIENCE ANIMATORS DAY CAMP (SUMMER 2020) The London Children’s Museum is looking for creative, fun, professional and enthusiastic Day Camp Visitor Experience Animators (VEAs) to join our team. Working with the Visitor Experience staff, the Day Camp VEAs will contribute to the development and delivery of outstanding day camp programs for children age 4-12. Team members will identify with and exemplify our organizational values which are: Stay Curious, Be Awesome, Be Helpful, Dream Big, Include Everyone, and Have Fun . Position : 9 positions. Hourly contract at 40 hours per week from June 12, 2020 - September 4, 2020. Compensation : $14.00/hour Key Responsibilities: Develop, deliver, and facilitate eleven weeks of high-quality, fun, educational, and engaging day camp programs for children age 4–12 Encourage and support an inclusive and respectful atmosphere for all campers Ensure the care, safety, and security of day campers at all times Supervise and participate in on-site and off-site activities including swimming, physical activities, experiments, art activities, songs, and games Communicate with camper caregivers on a daily basis Provide exceptional visitor experience and customer service Deliver other Children’s Museum programs including birthday parties, demonstrations, events, and outreach activities as needed Provide training, support, and supervision of volunteers Be a helpful, positive, and engaged member of the Children’s Museum staff team Provide individual children with additional support during times of transitions or environmental stress Accept other duties as assigned Skills: Enthusiasm for hands-on, experiential learning Previous day camp experience is an asset Demonstrated expertise and interest in providing playful, engaging experiences for children Desire to work in a distinctly child-centred environment Specific interest or expertise in the areas of science, art, history, culture, engineering, museums, and/or outdoor learning is an asset Excellent time management skills, and ability to work both independently and in a team Strong verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills Experience assisting children who need additional support is an asset Position Requirements: Child & Infant First Aid and CPR training Valid police check Be between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations HIGH FIVE® certification and All Kids in Camp training, provided by the Children’s Museum The London Children’s Museum welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
